JOURNER TOURS ALPS IN FALL 2009
SEPTEMBER 15, 2009 TO SEPTEMBER 24, 2009
On September 15, we leave the US arriving in Zurich the next morning for train transfer to Interlaken where we spend 4 night at the Hotel Harder Minerva. The hotel is owned by Rene' Betolli and family where we have stayed numerous times. Interlaken provides a spectacular location to base from using local narrow gauge trains as well as mainline national rail.
September 17, we tour into the Jungfrau area of the Bernese Overland to travel on the Eigerglacier train through the Eiger to the Jungfrau Joch where you can enjoy lunch as well as spectacular views and the Ice Palace carved inside the glacier.

September 18, we travel to Milan on the high speed Italian train (the Cisalpino) for a day of shopping and sightseeing.
September 19, we spend the morning in Bern to shop and sightsee returning for an afternoon to the Schilthorn revolving restaurant with "Top of the World" views. Used for filming a James Bond movie, it is a well recognized peak.

September 20, is a transfer day from Interlaken to Villeneuve on Lake Geneva. Part of the trip is on the Crystal Panormaic train with ultra sleek design.

In Villeneuve we stay at the Hotel du Port located on Lake Geneva.
September 21 we travel to the French mountain town of Chamonix for great scenery and French cuisine.
September 22 we take a day trip to Gruyere where yes, the cheese is made, and a scenic trip to the old village and the fortifications of the town castle.
September 23 we drop our luggage in Zurich and continue on to the very scenic town of Lucerne.
